Hamill Industries is a Barcelona-based creative studio, composed of artists Anna Díaz and Pablo Barquín. The duo specialises in developing innovative projects based on experimentation, blending emerging and traditional techniques to create new formats of visual communication.
Hamill Industries engages in artistic and technological research in the fields of visual arts, live performance, and the exploration of light, movement, and sound. Since 2015, Hamill Industries has collaborated with electronic artist Floating Points. For the Silhouettes music video, the duo developed and built an elaborate light painting machine that created animations in response to the beat, visualising the music and giving it a tangible presence. Six months in the making, the project brought Hamill Industries golden Laus Award and a nomination for Ars Electronica's STARTS. Following the success, they developed an immersive scenography for the musician's worldwide tour.
Tamara Rojo, the new creative director of the San Francisco Ballet, has appointed Hamill Industries to oversee all stage and visual direction for the ballet "Mere Mortals." The myth of Pandora is told through algorithm-created imagery, depicting a universe of expanded dancers whose skin merges with smoke and light. Hamill Industries used AI to enhance these interactions, extending the movement into impossible gestures.
HELIX, a kinetic sculpture by Hamill Industries that explores renewable energies and sustainability, is powered by solar energy and never stops. Located on the terrace of Castell de Lloret Museum for ecology, this dynamic artwork, commissioned by Pascuals Design, uses parametric design to create an interplay of volumes, colours, reflections, and shadows, representing Spain's energy data and temperature changes over the past 20 years.
