"Our bond with the natural world is rooted in the wild essence we share. The nature of joy appears, blooms, and vanishes before we know it, unfolding in a dreamlike state. How we interact with and perceive nature reflects our inner world. In this work, light explodes the experience, amplifying the emotions that flowers evoke. Each bloom captures a moment of beauty before transforming, embracing the freedom found in things that don’t last. It celebrates the wild, untamed freedom of nature and our place within it. While the environmental crisis exposes our self-destructive tendencies, I turn to renewal, countering negativity by creating something beautiful and uplifting. This creation, sparkling with positive energy, is a meditation on the natural world and the transient nature of joy.”

  1. Janie Fitzgerald is an American photographer and visual artist celebrated for her pioneering work in immersive imaging and photographic VR. Through diverse formats, she delves into themes of the natural world, weather, and the ephemeral nature of life.


  2. In 1994, Apple chose Janie Fitzgerald to create showcase media for the launch of QuickTimeVR, one of the earliest examples of photographic immersive technology. As a pioneer in 360º imaging, Fitzgerald swiftly gained acclaim for her innovative and groundbreaking creative contributions to the medium.


  3. She has photographed numerous architectural and cultural landmarks in 360º format, including UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Acropolis of Athens, the Tower of London, and Chichen Itzá, as well as the National Historic Landmark, Carnegie Hall in New York City.


  4. In 2021, Fitzgerald began integrating AI with her extensive photography and technology background to create a distinctive style. In her early AI project, Flora Solaris, she created a large dataset of 3,000 macro photographs of flowers, that she solarised and processed in unique styles, which Ivona Tau used to train GAN models.


  5. Her visuals, featuring flowers and architectural settings in surreal atmospheres, draw inspiration from the magic of the wild. Fitzgerald strives to capture the essence of the past and the future with flowers, radiating with luminous colours and dynamic shapes, emphasising the fleeting nature of her subjects.
