YonkersVidal is a Canadian visual artist renowned for his work in video and immersive art. He holds a BFA in Film Production from Concordia University.
His artistic process involves placing transparent or translucent drops of chemical products on a glass sheet and filming the reactions with a macro lens. This method allows him to create visually stunning pieces that highlight the natural work of the chemicals and add an element of randomness while maintaining control over the overall artistic outcome. The artist consciously avoids using computer-generated imagery and AI in his work.
In 2023, YonkersVidal was awarded the IRIS prize for Best Visual Effects for his contributions to the film VIKING directed by Stéphane Lafleur. Together with the team, he created a unique, rich and mysterious version of Mars. Earlier, Vidal created an image sequence for the film Si Je Reste de Elkahna Talbi presented at Littérature de Montréal festival in 2020.
YonkersVidal is no stranger to the music industry: he collaborated with emerging musicians such as Carmine Calia, Isaac Symonds & Yaehson, Les Soeurs Boulay, Mélanie Venditti, Adam Strangler in the production of their music videos, created an album cover for Natura Sophia (2021) and made a backdrop projection for Lady Gaga's Chromatica Ball World Tour.
In 2024, YonkersVidal ventured into immersive art, creating Interférences for the Montreal Planetarium.
