Alexis Chivir-ter Tsegba’s practice is guided by what she describes as a “collage brain”: a cross-temporal mode of thinking and making grounded in assembling, disassembling, returning and recomposing. She treats collage not only as a technique but as a way of moving through time — one that mirrors the cyclical, recursive nature of memory. Her work embraces experimentation, irrational juxtaposition and semi-structured chaos, allowing past, present and speculative futures to coexist and continuously reshape one another.

Bringing together works created between 2021 and 2025, the exhibition explores how memory and time travel through bodies, landscapes and the cosmos, articulated through African visual vocabularies and symbolism. Drawing on African spiritual philosophies and metaphysics, Tsegba approaches these themes through intimacy, tenderness and queer desire. Across the works, time is rendered as non-linear and relational: bodies become porous thresholds, love functions as a form of timekeeping, and ancestral knowledge emerges as a living force that informs future possibilities. Together, the works trace a personal and cultural arc — from portals of becoming, to intimacies sustained across geographies, to the rituals that shape diasporic experience.
