Echoes of Time

Part of the exhibition:

Echoes of Time visualises fragments of human memory as elemental rituals. Each image reflects a distinct “time-body” of birth, growth, love, silence, and renewal, echoing the cyclical rhythm of existence.

Through light, composition, and texture, the work gives form to emotion, allowing stillness to hold the same intensity as movement. Aboya approaches his photographs as visual poems, where silence and space are as vital as the subject itself.

Drawing from the themes explored in Journey to the 8, this exhibition reimagines the elements – earth, air, fire, and water – as states of being rather than physical environments. Together, the digital works form a meditative continuum in which time and memory fold into one another in perpetual return.

The words, they come and they go, only a few remain, in the end, that which you dream of is not ready-made waiting for you to collect, it comes from your own actions. Those actions, pure and true, can be hard, can be through unexpected pain, can be fun and filled with unimaginable gain of self, love, and purpose. In the end, as they say… "That which doesn't kill you make you stronger," not just for you, but strong for all of us, for all time ♾️.The feelings come and go; there's so much to be said, so much to express. I closed my eyes and opened my heart to see and feel the world in and around me, to watch my desire for freedom drift with the wind like a dandelion pappus carrying its seed in the direction of my dreams, on the way to creating some sort of balance between what I can and cannot control, between dreams and reality, between holding on and letting go, but most importantly, finding home with a family to hold me in case I fall, that they may hold me back up to where I belong.

Sometimes I close my eyes and dream a little, the simplicity of an infinite subconscious. If I could tell you in words, I will let you know.

Details

I've always asked myself: What makes us feel more alive?So, anytime I'm out there with a camera ready to push the shutter, I'm always looking for something, one I can call an answer to the questions I have. There's always something beautiful in there: the unspoken words between the lines, the stories in those eyes, the way we move, and the way we smile. There's always a story worth sharing. I've found purpose and some sort of joy in capturing these emotions within the elements in the sweet glow of a setting or rising sun because they help communicate them better. Only then, when I look at the image and feel something deep within, is when I know I've found something worth sharing. But sometimes, between lines and purpose, I see myself, and I wonder if those I photograph see something in me, something worth sharing.

I am the sunlight on clear water, born of fire and forged in flame. They tried to name me, to confine me to the edges of their understanding. With skin kissed by the sun and eyes that carry storms, I exist as proof that beauty thrives in difference, and strength is found in the untamed.In a world of shadows, I stood apart, breaking the norms they clung to. They stared, they whispered, they sought to define me. But my essence is mine, an inheritance of resilience, a crown of ancestry too vast and powerful for words to contain.I carry the light of my people, the strength of the earth, and the legacy of a lineage unbroken. I walk with the hands of my ancestors on my back, lifting me higher. I belong to them, to this soil, to this sky.

I belong to myself. No chains can hold a soul forged in fire. No words can bind a spirit that moves like sunlight and water, unyielding, free. For those who doubt, I offer this: look closer. I've been counting the days, the years, and it's been an infinite cycle of emotions, adventure, and uncertainty. I'm back to where I once started, and I bet if you look into those eyes, you'll see something that wasn't there before—a new story added to the shelf of my life with a strong title.However, what truly matters here, through it all is the connection you forge with those who stand by you, lift you up, and see something beautiful in you even when you can't see it yourself. Those who break through your barriers, who make you feel seen and remind you that you're not facing the storm alone. And if you ask me, I think that's something incredibly powerful. It's one of those feelings that makes it all worth it in the end, to a new start, emerging stronger on the other side together.

I spent more time than usual looking at this one after creating it because I felt so much emotion gushing out of it all at once. A lot that I cannot really find the words for. But one thing I would mention and write about is that, you cannot rise to become who you need to be while holding on to things that weigh you down. So let go of that weight, the pains and regrets of yesterday but always hold on to the lessons it taught you. Set yourself free and watch how you ascend with ease. Ascend with love, happiness and peace in your heart. Allow the better things fill up that space you've created, they will never weigh you down. The first step however is acceptance.Be who you are and express what the heart feels.

The storm will always pass, and after that comes sunshine and sometimes rainbows. A feeling that something beautiful awaits on the other side of the storm. But what about the beauty the storm holds and brings our way ? Sometimes we don't see the beauty when it's mixed up with strong winds and dark clouds. We spend time wishing that it passes quickly or we blind ourselves with the thought of the beauty after the storm. It's not always about waiting for the storm to pass, but embracing it, learning from it, allowing it to be a source of growth and allowing it to wash away the impurities of yesterday making you fresh again. When the sun shines its light after the storm, it'll shine through you into your soul.

It's been a long walk down these patterns of emotions—the colorway path. Along it, I've experienced a myriad of emotions, some delightful, others not so much. Yet, amidst it all, I consistently pause to admire the sun as it sets on the horizon of my journey. I watch as the sun delicately brushes the canvas of the sky with hues resembling a heartfelt smile with a positive message. In that brief moment, you get a sense of hope, I set to rise again kind of feeling, and I love that.

This same sentiment arises when I capture a story in a smile—authentic and genuine, much like the sun setting on these patterns of emotions, only to promise a new dawn.

"Don't forget to breathe. Keep your gaze on the bigger picture. Take gradual steps forward."

Those were the quiet words I found myself repeating while creating this image. They were only meant to guide the making of a photograph, but somewhere between the water, the waiting, and the seeds, they became a reminder of how every meaningful thing in life comes to be.

It made me wonder how many beautiful things we have walked past, or left in the dark of our imagination, simply because they had not yet become what they were meant to be. The dreams we abandoned too soon. The motions too small to notice. The seeds carrying a silent certainty that something unseen was already becoming.

Maybe that is what Vision Bloom truly means.

Not the ability to see farther, but the courage to see deeper. To look at what the world calls ordinary and recognize the extraordinary waiting within it. To hold tomorrow gently, even while it still looks like today.

Because every flower first blooms where no one can see it. And every future belongs first to those who can believe in life, even while it is still becoming.

Keep looking beyond the surface, that's where tomorrow begins.

The fire in her soul, she danced with it until it came out and all could see it's radiant flame, her movements were symphony, a dance of pure delight, a spectacle of passion set ablaze in the sunset sky. Aah, she reminds me soo much of a line I read some time ago by Ara, that says, you will never be too much fire for those meant to dance in your flame.Come with me, let's dance with flames aglow, wild and free, let them see that in our hearts the embers burn, a fervent flame, forever yearn, forever shining a light over all. The fire in her soul, a dance that never dims.Find your fire, let it burn, and those meant to dance with you will dance.

Let the heat of your flames sharpen you, let the cold in the air teach you how to endure, because the dream isn’t waiting at the end, it’s in every step you take forward, in the center of it all, where fire and breath meet, and you rise exactly as you are.

This image began as a drawing, a quiet moment where the idea existed before the world did. Sketching the vision first allowed me to understand the feeling I wanted to step into, long before the camera ever came out.
The photograph isn’t a capture of chance, but the completion of a thought.

I believe the most meaningful kind of change is the one that begins quietly within, forming in places no one can see and slowly making its way outward until it reveals itself on the surface. And in becoming something more, we are not turning into something unfamiliar, we are uncovering what has always been there. There is something honest in that stillness, in moments where everything softens and all that remains is your breath, where nothing is asked of you but to simply be, even in the depths.

Because what rises has always belonged to you. It does not begin in the light, but in darkness, in the unseen work of becoming. So when it finally opens, it is not a sudden transformation, it is a quiet unfolding of something that was always meant to emerge.

Explaining how I feel in words can be one of the most difficult things I try to do. So, I turn to pictures because they hold an infinite flow of words and a beautiful story to tell and learn from, not just for myself but for everyone. How do you know where to turn to when you find yourself lost?
Sometimes it's as simple as just closing your eyes and opening your heart, it somehow always knows where you're meant to be and guides you on that path of purpose to an infinite flow of love, joy and hope. It's really exciting but also comes with fear, I guess that's how you know you found the right turn to an infinite beautiful story.

Take a moment sometimes and look up at the night sky; it's even more captivating when it's truly dark. You'll witness how those tiny stars, visible from down here, lights up the universe. I firmly believe that the same principle applies when you wear a smile, no matter how small or big. It always possesses the power to brighten not only your own world but also the lives of those around you. It leaves a twinkle in someone's heart, which reminds me of a cherished poem we used to sing as children in school:

"Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky."

Remember, It's never too late to be a star in the night sky. All you need to do is glow with your smile and bring someone along with you.

I remember, almost as if it were yesterday, when all I could do was be wild and free, run long distances with friends, lose my breath, fall to the ground, burst out in laughter, make a splash, create some ripples, and see how far it goes. I remember at some point wishing to be older, to be even more free, but instead, I became even more distracted and lost, the essence of feeling alive fading away. I get it, c’est la vie; you need some balance sometimes. Whatever you do, though, don't lose your inner child. Don't forget the little you that you once were, wild and free, blooming with love from the inside out. Watch how far it goes.

There was a time when I wished I could freeze a moment and observe what made it so special, but now I just bring out my camera like a magic wand and start freezing everything in time or I create a project on the timeline of life and capture it. But there's something about this one that makes me feel like I'm still in the moment trapped with the time, it confirms that feeling i always have when I look at a photograph and wish I could relive that moment, it reminds me of the importance of creating, capturing and collecting moments. But you pretty much have to be doing something worth remembering, go all in and all out head first, live life with no regrets, freeze your time and moments and keep it like a crystal that will shine and sparkle when your world goes dark.

The magic is in those eyes.
They tell the story long before a single word is said.

Every time I raise my camera, I’m not trying to capture a face, I’m asking questions: Will you let me see you?, Will you open the window, even just a little, so I can glimpse into your world?

Because the expressions in those eyes… that’s everything. That’s the kind of trust you can’t pose or direct.

And every time someone lets me in, even for a moment, I’m reminded that vision isn’t just about seeing. It’s about presence. About being still long enough to feel what the eyes are trying to say.

I think the same is true beyond photography. When you meet someone new, or even someone you’ve known forever, someone true, you can almost see yourself in their eyes. Like your soul recognizes something familiar.
Like it meets theirs somewhere in the quiet space between dreams and reality.
