Simon Rydén's latest generative art series was conceived during the cold, dark winters in Sweden, inspired by the sensation of standing by chilly, windy waters and observing their evolution. This theme iterated over time, leading to the creation of sunGazer after a night of staying awake until sunrise.
The works, commissioned by Load, aim to transform the gallery into a sun-room, evoking the sensation of encountering the sun after a period of darkness. Rydén intended to craft a mini-story—a journey from the cold waters through various iterations, including the more cerebral softEdges and the more embodied blush, culminating in the arrival of sunrise.
These pieces employ a 2D particle system with recursive displacement, utilising feedback loops, recursion, and Perlin noise to create organic and evolving patterns.
Rydén aims to create a meditative space, capturing the stillness of the night and the journey toward sunrise. He invites the audience to take a breath and experience the changes.
